Innovative Programs

The CNYC believes that meaningful, education and support is key to supporting the positive development of young people. Cree Nation Youth Council is working with youth-driven partners to develop more support for young people of Eeyou Istchee. These are community/regional-based models, where young people are growing with the help of our partners to support the educational attainment and positive transitions of youth involved.

Cree Youth Development Funds

Launched in 2018 -  The Cree Nation Youth Council (CNYC) introduced the Cree Youth Development Funds.

"To facilitate the development of capability, leadership, and a joy of life in the Youth, for a better future for the People and the Cree Nation."

The Program Funds are provided through a funding agreement with the Secretariat a la Jeunesse; it is guided through the CNYC Policies and Procedures for SAJ Funds that help support Social and Cultural Development.

  • Cree Nation Youth Council is working with youth-driven partners to develop more support for young people of Eeyou Istchee. These are community/regional-based models, where young people are growing with the help of our partners to support the educational attainment and positive transitions of youth involved.

  • In addition, the CNYC is working with our youth-driven partners to develop and drive personal growth attainment strategies that support young people. We encourage programs that are inclusive to all youth and support and encourage youth in their development.

  • The application of this Policy is subject to the maintenance in place of the Cree Nation Youth Council Funds and availability of funds, as well as any relevant conditions and requirements under applicable agreements, including the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (1975) and the The Agreement Concerning the Secretariat a la Jeunesse.

  • The Cree Nation Youth Council & Cree Nation Government reserves the right to terminate the Cree Nation Youth Council Funds and/or repeal or amend this Policy and the criteria and procedures therein at any time without prior notice.

  • The CNYC is responsible for the interpretation and application of all policy, The Director of Social Development and Cultural Pursuits will assist in providing support in the interpretation and application of this Policy, when necessary.
